originally released in a limited edition of 500 copies in 1982 monoton’s second album ‘monotonprodukt 07’ is now a collector item and also one of the most important album of all-time. it has been voted one of the 100 best records by highly influential uk magazine the wire. monoton was founded in 1979 by hypermedia wizard konrad becker as an art project that underwent various transformations and collaborations in its exploration of psycho-active sound. a pioneer in experimental electronic music, becker continued to break new ground in electronic media. monotonprodukt 07 has been reissued on vinyl by desire (and is still available as a double picture-discs limited to 500 copies. it’s the first time ever that tracks from the album are remixed and desire is proud to had such great artists/producers as us prositutes, svengalighost with fellow partner and l.i.e.s. boss and hospital productions artist ron morelli. the last remix is the work of great mancunian duo rainer veil (modern love). an incredible remix package that do justice to this classic album ! mastered by matt colton at alchemy.

frankfurt based producer, dj and music lover martin heimann presents his debut single salto on carry on 008. remaining faithful to its name, the small label puts out another piece of limited wax every once in a long while. enrooted in the soundscapes of 80s proto house the original version of salto is a thriving piece of octave liberation. consistent changes between harmonics break up the repetitive structure, while fm pads and the 303 are performing a little duet. the release is ennobled by two proper remixes from moon b (peoples potential unlimited) and jex opolis (good timin). while moon b keeps it bubblin’ with some extra analogue funk bounce and subtle italo dance floor energy, the b-side is jexi-fied with some embellishment to the cords, change in the bassline and a nice 808 snap. on top mr. opolis adds some mysterious but cheesy vocals samples that match perfect with the moody 80s orchestral stabs.

apotek records takes a conversant and pliable approach to this dialectic ep. jerome sydenham opens the technological fray with the title track dialectic. deep swinging rhythms coupled with a deeply rooted dub vocal truly define its essential neoteric sensibilities. jerome sydenham s remix of macroisms drone is a prime example of take no prisoners berghain techno pure rumpus. the b-side introduces the sophomore single from hot new berlin talent non reversible. the track kuro is absolutely unapologetic in its discharge of nebulous dark thunder techno. powerful! on the last cut, jerome sydenham gets back behind the splicing desk, breaks out the razor blades and deftly edits the echoplex classic pitch break. the results is transcendent hypnotic techno bliss.

the next release on lag is from bay area to berlin transplant jamaica suk. the kontort ep (lag006) is another 3 cut record with all original music. the title track kontort is a composition with the big room in mind with thunderous kicks and bass with intricate panning and dub inflections. holographic is a another big room techno workout with a deliciously infectious piano line which allows the producers personality to shine through. depth between waves is a dub techno roller. this track shows restraint till the break then re-emerges with a synth sound that pushes the groove forward in a simple yet undeniable manner.

this is the third record of the modern house quintet. this new one features one house/deep house track (a side) and a more “detroit-atmosphere” cut on the b-side. “belle-ile” opens with a filtered piano organ which responds to a massive bassline. the second part of the track introduces gradually a flute line, a trumpet sample and a layered pad.“fountain” starts with a pad which is progressively defiltered and quickly joined by a bassline. the break introduces an acid bassline, supported by a string chord. all these elements blend together to create a detroit atmospheric vibe.
